Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport uses the airport code JNB. For a journey through JNB, confirm the departure area, the operating airline and the baggage procedure on your actual booking. The route links below are planning guides, not a list of currently operating nonstop services.
Find the correct departure area
Our terminal-map check on 23 October 2026 identified Terminal A as international and Terminal B as domestic. Use the Airports Company South Africa terminal map, then confirm your airline’s check-in area and the departure board. A general terminal label does not identify the counter or gate for every flight.
Check the airport code on both flights when comparing connections. A city name alone is insufficient: an itinerary may require travel between airports. Plan the actual transfer and its document requirements before relying on the time between scheduled flights.
International arrival followed by a domestic flight
SAA’s baggage guidance says passengers arriving internationally and connecting domestically must collect bags and clear customs at their first South African entry airport, even if baggage tags show the final destination. Confirm where to drop the bag again and the onward check-in deadline.
International passengers remaining airside with baggage checked through follow a different process. Ask the airline which arrangement applies to your ticket. On separate bookings, do not assume through-check or assistance after a missed flight; obtain the instructions for each booking.
| Before you travel | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Arrival and onward flight | Airport codes, local dates and operating airlines |
| Checked bags | Where they are collected, cleared and checked again |
| Entry or airside transit | Documents required for your passport and actual transfer |
| Overnight connection | Hotel location, entry permission and access to essentials |
| Ground transport | Pickup point, arrival time and a current price quote |
Use the route guides to narrow a search
The catalogue contains guides for selected journeys involving JNB. A link does not establish a nonstop flight, a particular operator, a weekly frequency or current seat availability. Search your dates and expand every segment to see the actual routing. In particular, an airline marketing a journey or selling a partner flight does not necessarily operate every aircraft.
Any fare observation on a route page is dated cached data. Treat a missing observation as a gap in the cache, not proof that no flight exists. Compare the final booking price with bags, seats and any necessary transfer in the trip-budget tool.

Arrival documents and customs
Check South African entry requirements for your passport if you will enter the country. Customs is a separate step: SARS traveller-declaration guidance explains the online declaration required from 1 July 2026, with limited paper exceptions. Keep receipts for goods and follow the authority’s instructions for what to declare.
