Affiliate Disclosure
CheapFlightsAfrica (cheapflightsafrica.com) participates in affiliate marketing programs. Many outbound links on this site — particularly toward flight search engines, travel insurance, OTAs, and remittance partners — are affiliate links. When a reader clicks one and completes a qualified booking, the partner pays CheapFlightsAfrica a commission. The reader pays no additional cost compared with going to the partner directly.
Details
- Our affiliate program is operated via Travelpayouts / Aviasales with marker
537469, with cluster sub-IDs (diaspora,hajj,intra-africa,business) so we can measure which audience cluster a click came from. - Commission varies per completed booking and is paid by the partner to CheapFlightsAfrica.
- Readers do not pay more than they would by going directly to Aviasales, Hotellook, or any other partner.
- We do not accept airline sponsorship, do not publish paid rankings, and do not accept paid placement from travel agencies.
AirHelp partnership (added 2026-05-14)
As of May 2026, CheapFlightsAfrica also recommends AirHelp,
a flight-compensation service that files claims on passengers' behalf under EU261 (EU carriers
+ flights to/from the EU such as JNB→FRA on Lufthansa), UK261 (BA, Virgin LHR/LGW arrivals),
Saudi GACA (for Saudia, Flynas on African Hajj/Umrah routes), and Canada APPR (Africa→Canada
diaspora flights). When a reader clicks an AirHelp link on this site and successfully receives
compensation through AirHelp's claim service, AirHelp pays CheapFlightsAfrica a referral
commission. AirHelp's own fee (25–35% of awarded compensation) is unchanged whether you come
via CheapFlightsAfrica or go to AirHelp directly. We do not pay AirHelp; AirHelp pays us only
on successful claims. This program runs through Travelpayouts marker 537469
campaign 120, with sub-IDs (africa, africa-diaspora,
africa-hajj, africa-intra-africa, africa-business) for
audience-cluster attribution.
What this means in practice
- Affiliate commission funds editorial research, fact-checking, image production, and the site itself — keeping every article free to read.
- Commercial relationships do not — and will not — alter editorial conclusions. We compare airlines and routes on objective criteria (fare, baggage, frequency, alliance / loyalty earn, audience-cluster relevance — diaspora to UK/AU/CA/USA, Hajj/Umrah pilgrim, intra-Africa + Gulf hub transit, Indian-African + Lebanese-African + business inbound), and name the airline or OTA that wins each criterion even when it pays a lower commission.
- When a recommendation can genuinely benefit from a specific booking partner (e.g. Hotellook for Mauritius/Seychelles family bookings, Travelpayouts insurance widget for Schengen-visa-required trips, a remittance partner with better USD-ZAR or USD-NGN spread), we label the partner inline rather than burying the relationship.
- We cite pan-African authorities by name: SACAA (South African Civil Aviation Authority), NCAA (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority), KCAA (Kenya), GCAA (Ghana); the Hajj boards NAHCON (Nigeria), SAHUC (South Africa), KAHCON (Kenya), GHC (Ghana); plus the African Union Commission for SAATM / open-skies developments. Reader trust outranks affiliate margin.
How /go/ links work
Every outbound affiliate link is formatted as /go/[slug]. The
CheapFlightsAfrica server logs the click (timestamp, source article slug) for editorial
analytics — we do not track personal identity — and then executes an HTTP 302 redirect to
the partner with parameter marker=537469.{cluster}.{segment}.
From that point, the booking flow is between the reader and the partner. We do not see
booking details, credit card, passport, or reader identity. /go/ is
Disallow-ed in our robots.txt so the affiliate redirect endpoint
is not indexed.
Important information
- CheapFlightsAfrica does not sell tickets directly — we are an editorial site.
- We do not accept compensation for negative reviews of competitors or positive reviews of partners.
- Every fare range — quoted in USD with ZAR / NGN / KES / GHS context where useful — is a reference bracket as of publication or last-updated date. Verify with the airline or OTA at booking time.
- For YMYL topics (visa rules, baggage allowance, Hajj/Umrah quota timing) we apply a two-source rule and prefer primary regulator or board citations over secondary news. See our Editorial Policy for the full standard.
Compliance
Aligned with US FTC 16 CFR Part 255 guidelines on material connections in affiliate marketing, and consistent with EU Digital Services Act (DSA) transparency requirements for online platforms. We disclose material commercial connections at the page level via this document, at the link level when a specific recommendation runs through an affiliate program, and in author bylines when an editor has a personal interest in a product or partner.
